Venezuela: News

An article prompted by the recent release in Spanish of "The State of Venezuela's Forests: A Case Study of the Guayana Region" entitled "There is Still Time to Save Our Forests" was published on the Environmental Page of the Correo del Caroni, Cuidad Guyana, Venezuela on July 21, 2002 (Adriana Boccalon, adrianab@carreodelcaroni.com, author). The article highlights the problems facing Venezuela's Guyanan rainforests. GFW-Venezuela reports that the greatest impediment to sustainable use within this region is the lack of information about current use and trends, all which is necessary to plan and make sound decisions for forest use.

Report says that the Venezuela's Frontier Forests are Still in Good State, upon release in Spanish in Cuidad Bolivar, VZ, July 21, 2002.
